🧬 WHAT IS BACTERIOSTATIC WATER?
Bacteriostatic water is sterile water that contains a bacteriostatic preservative, commonly benzyl alcohol.
The preservative distinguishes it from plain sterile water and allows an appropriate product to be designed for repeated withdrawals from a multi-dose container.
“Bacteriostatic” doesn’t mean every mixture is automatically safe or that one diluent is appropriate for every research material. Compatibility, manufacturer instructions, sterility, and the intended laboratory application still matter.
